The long road to potty training

Today, Abby declared she needed to use the potty, but she refused to let me into the bathroom to help. I stood outside the bathroom door for about a minute listening intently and waiting for her to ask for help. Suddenly the door opened and Abby says, "Jackson, help please!" Jackson goes into the potty and helps Abby....There is a lot of flushing and giggling going on, and as I wait patiently outside the bathroom door, I imagine the mess that they are making in there.

Then, the door opens again. "Come in Mommy" Abby says as she takes me by the hand. As I look inside the bathroom, it is clear that there has been no potty going, but plenty of toilet paper wasting. I think there was about half a roll unrolled and all over the bathroom. Boy these kids move fast. They were in there for less than two minutes! Abby then decides that Jackson can no longer help her, and she wants my help. So Jackson is sent outside, she closes the door and I am left to clean up the toilet paper mess and help Abby get onto the potty. She sits on the toilet for all of 30 seconds before declaring herself done. I cleaned up the toilet paper and negotiated putting a diaper on Abby, and we joined Jackson outside.

I think it is going to be a long road to potty training Abby!
